My favorite onboard activity were the wine blending classes. You could do classes on blending red or white wines that were offered multiple times per week at a cost of $40 per person, which included your very own bottle of wine, blended to your exact specifications. Even if you don’t know anything about wine, it’s a heck of a lot of fun, and Dina made the experience engaging and personable.

One of the most unique experiences is the interactive winemaking on board. You can discover the magic of blended wines and create your own custom blend using authentic vintner equipment to mix, bottle, cork and label a custom wine designed to your own individual taste. You have the option to bottle and cork up to a case of your own wine which you may take home. That in itself is reason enough to come back and cruise again.
A lively activity on board on sea days is an opportunity to take a wine-blending class with Blend Craft Wines, Inc. Our wine making instructor, Corinne, has a vineyard in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. We miraculously learned the art of blending while we tasted, and our efforts were rewarded with a bottle of 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Syrah, 20% Merlot and 10% Malbec. Corrinne gave us high marks for our blending choices. The two-hour course is well worth the time. Our class was full, so pre-booking is always a good idea.
Don’t miss: Blend Craft Wines’ Winemaker Experience! I have to say this was the highlight of our cruise in terms of onboard entertainment! It was so different than your average wine tasting that most cruise lines offer. The wine making experience is truly that, an experience! If you like wine this is something not to miss. This was such a fun event, I could have done it everyday!
A class on blending wines is offered for guests who want to try their hand at learning their palate and understanding how to blend wines. Participants can create and label their own wine to take home, or drink on board. It’s a unique class that provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for guests.
We took a Winery At Sea class during which participants taste different varietals then experiment with wine blending. With expert guidance from onboard winemakers Mary and Peter Lichty, we perfected a personal blend, gave it a name and had it bottled onboard. One bottle of your wine is included with the class, which is a bargain at $40. While you will likely learn something about wine, the goal is “just to have fun.” When not at sea, Mary works at Raymond Vineyards in California’s Napa Valley.
